5 Tips To Help Set & Achieve Your Goals In Life

Your Goals/Your Intentions

For most people your goals aren’t really something that you give much thought to, but this is one of the first steps to accomplishing them.

This past week I took some time to unplug from everything and just spent some quality time with my family and friends.

When I got home last night though I sat down and wrote out these 5 tips to help set & achieve your goals in life, then used the formula to help set my next goals I am looking to achieve.

That’s right start by prioritizing your goals and making specific plans to support them.

5 Tips To Help Set & Achieve Your Goals In Life

Getting specific about your goals is the best way to put power behind your intentions and bring your dreams closer to reality.

1. Focus On Your Intention To Help Reach Your Goals

Do you have a clear game plan to help you reach your goals?

Most of us wish for a better job, a better car, a bigger house, ect… but wishing for these things really doesn’t accomplish anything now does it.

What you really need to do is to sit down in a quiet spot and really think about what it is that you want, this is going to help you start setting your goals.

You don’t want to just go and start setting any old goals that are going to be easy for you to accomplish.

If you cannot think of any then perhaps you haven’t tapped into what your intention really is about.

Why do you want to do this or to make it happen?
Who is involved?
What do you want to accomplish and what are the obstacles to overcome?
Where will it take place?
When will it begin and end?

You want to start making a list, answer these questions above to help you reach your goals. This will empower your intention. Just be honest with yourself.

2. Find A Mentor To Help Reach Your Goals

Find someone who inspires you and try to follow in their footsteps to help reach your goals. This can be anyone, your neighbor, a teacher, perhaps a member of your family, if you don’t have anyone in mind, start looking around on the internet.

You can find thousands of successful people out there, sign up for a free training or download on their website. This way you will get on their subscriber’s list and you will start receiving e-mails from them so you can find out what they are up to.

You could also ask to become their friends on facebook, ibotoolbox, twitter or any other social networking site that you may find, just watch them and see what they are doing, then do it.

These are people who will help you get the skills needed in order for you to reach your goals.

3. Engage Your Imagination To Help Reach Your Goals

Do a mental practice with yourself, giving the message to your mind, the message that your goal has already taken place.

5 Tips To Help Set & Achieve Your Goals In Life 1

Did you ever hear the saying what you think about you bring about?

This does work, so picture this image in your mind first thing in the morning throughout the day and make this the last thought of the day.

Start by writing out your goals, read these often this will help you to believe your goals can become your reality.

I did a post on affirmations click here and have a look.

4. Find Business Associates To Help Reach Your Goals

Whatever your goals may be consider focusing on it through the power of a group. The internet is a great place to find like minded individuals.

Find a group and ask to join, I do belong to a few Awesome Groups, so if you are interested just ask.

You can then start asking questions and get the answers that you need.

Once you start getting involved your mindset will change and you will move closer to reaching your goals.

You may not think that your mindset has anything to do with setting your goals, but I am here to tell you that it does.

If you are having any problems at all setting your goals then you need to work on your mindset first.

5. Break Your Goals Into Clear Steps

The path to your success is to break the tasks down into chunks. Without doing this you can become overwhelmed and it may never manifest for you.

Ok Lets simplify this all for you here.

Identify a simple task that you can accomplish and then specify when you will do this, as well as how you are going to this to make your goals become your reality?

Completing these tasks will build your confidence and bring you closer to your goals.

Remember taking baby steps to reach your goals is easier than taking huge leaps.

Some suggestions to achieve this would be to put up a bulletin board with pictures quotes, anything that will help you to accomplish those goals you set for yourself.

Keep a log of everything you do, this will keep you focused. You will now be on your way to making your goals a reality.

If you do not have a plan in place to help you follow those good intentions to reach your goals and you don’t know the steps to help you get there. You’re not alone.

There are millions of people in the world who are frustrated in life, and who feel as though they have no one to turn to for advice – but I am letting you know today that I am here for you every step of the way.

Hi Chery, I agree… those intentions have to be thought out, and sometimes you need to dig deep. We all think that those goals will just pop up magically, but it doesn’t always happen that way, it’s necessary to know where you’re going before you make a plan to get there. Love having mentors also… they made the road so much easier. Great post, Chery. Thank you!

    Five excellent tips Chery!

An the best part is, it’s not rocket science! Although I might add,
it really doesn’t matter who someone chooses as a potential Mentor if
    they’re not Coach able!

Some people have trouble following directions, yet they still want to
blame others for their overall lack of progress and or success!

Thanks for laying out a very doable plan!

Hello Mark, Wow This is OH SO TRUE! I just shared some social proof on my FaceBook timeline today and one of my team-mates posted that this does not work! Really? She has been in for 2 months and has not reached out once for help. HUM?? I do believe that you just uncovered the problem here my friend!! Thanks for sharing… Chery :))

    Hello Chery!

You’re always there to motivate and give inspiration to other people. You’re great at sharing an article that will push every reader’s willpower. I can personally say that baby steps can make you courageous and resilient. This enables you to attain your goals really well, rather than taking the large one.

Let me add too, that achieving goals need the right attitude and set of mind. I remember one quote… “Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude.”

The right attitude is beyond significant, whereas you are lacking knowledge. The tips shared above of having a mentor or finding associates will definitely going to work if you are INTERESTED in succeeding.

    Awesome post, all in all!

    Hi Chery!

Great post on setting and achieving goals!

I think one of the most important tips here, is to break down everything you need to do to accomplish your goals, into little steps.

I always give this same advice. Setting up measurable goals, to get to a bigger goal, is the smartest approach!

I actually gave this advice on my last blog post as well! :)

Setting measurable goals that you can accomplish fast, can make a big difference. It is because of the psychology behind it. It is in human nature to keep moving forward when there is a frequent satisfactory feeling.

They use this simple human psychology, a lot, on video game, for example.

Have you ever noticed (if you played video games enough lol) – in a video game, that if you either level up, gain points, win something, or achieve something, very fast, the more addicting the game is?

That is because when you keep having this feeling of accomplishment on subconscious levels, you will want to keep going and going!

Taking little steps forward, is always easier than trying to take big steps, anyways!

Measurable goals I can accomplish fast, feel good about it, and then keep accomplishing more, has always worked out for me very well!

    Awesome post and topic, Chery!

    Thanks for sharing it!

    Have a great week! 😀

    I’ll see you around!

I like this list I particularly agree with the idea of having a mentor and breaking your goals into bite-sized pieces so you can see things are moving forward! Baby steps make it easy to start and once in motion everything becomes easier!

    Hey Chery,

Good to see you back from your vacation and that you had a great time. You are right, this internet stuff is hard, but I absolutely love it.

A little tip I have learned and it’s taken me years to learn that you cannot do it by yourself. You have to have a friend(s), mentor or teacher to help guide you. I think this is the best piece of advice that anyone can give or receive.

    Have a great weekend.

Hello Monna, This is also something I have had to learn the hard way! I thought I could do everything myself and found myself isolated and lost. It was NO Fun at all, Now I surround myself with winners, Yeppers YOU Girl Friend! I love how you are always there for me, as well as the rest of the PAC Clan.

Thanks for your Awesome Tip! Love It! Enjoy your weekend to Girlfriend.. Chery :))

    Hey Chery,
Great tips, I must remark! I want to add that reminding oneself of the reason of setting the goal can help inspire speedy achievement.

We must set, plan and follow goals base on who the goal will make us, where we should be and what we will accomplish.

The place of discipline and sacrifice should not be ignored!
In kingged.com, I left the above comment as well.

    • says

Hello Sunday, Our WHY! Is this what you are talking about! Why we do what we do! I do know that if your why is not big enough chances are you will give up before reaching your goals..

Oh Yes discipline and sacrifice should not be ignored!

      Thanks for sharing my friend.

These tips of yours are just extra ordinary, loaded tips which can help us achieve our goals and dreams in life.To add to these tips of yours, one must posses a good character to achieve his dream in life.’
Just as the saying characters determines destiny

  9. says

Chery, you have hit the finer points and well done!

It is not often more of us would find ourselves focused on visualizing and then strategic planning. If so, there would be more of us completing so many services that no one would be without needs.

I thank you for all the support you give countless others. May you continue to bring quality usable articles. We learn each day and sharing it is the fun part.

  10. says

    Hi Chery,
Thanks for this formula for goal setting. Let me say straight up that I am interested in being member of your groups. Please let me have the details.

It is a struggle for many of us to set goals and keep them. With the amount of distractions surfacing each day, it is a challenge to keep focused. Goals are important in that they are yard sticks by which we measure our accomplishments but if we don’t know how to do this then we will continue to miss the mark. Your suggestion of joining groups and being mentored by successful persons are all worthwhile but unless accountability takes place it will start and stop. There is a lot for me to take away from this and to implement.
    All the best.

Loved these.. these 5 tips were not the usual that everyone else posts .. LOVED #1 , 2, and 3: Intention, Have a Mentor, and engage your imagination … these three are spectacular!

  12. says

It’s so easy to get distracted if you don’t have set goals along with a plan of how to reach them. I learned the hard way by getting involved in too many things. Even my email inbox became unmanageable and was taking up far too much of my time.

Along the way I’ve met some wonderful people who helped me see the way forward and give me valuable feedback and support.

  13. says

    Hi Chery,

I do believe the best advice of all is to find a mentor! It has always helped me! Going the DIY method takes time and time is money. Hiring a mentor or coach from blogging to product creation to marketing has so many benefits.

In retrospect, I have spent a pretty penny on mentors, but made back the money ten fold.

Hello Donna, I do agree my friend, it is so important to invest in yourself, but you also need to then implement what you hav e learned too. Thanks for adding to the conversation today, I do appreciate it!! Chery :))

  14. says

    Hi Chery ,
this is true ,first think about a goal .
Many people wait for somebody to set a goal for them
and do not realize that they create their life themselves.
Life happens to them not with them, Writing down a goal
is very good and it is necessary to take action, even if this are
little steps. Best is to have a mentor or a accountability Partner.
    Great post
    Thank you

  15. says

    Hi Chery,
Great article, and I like how you link to other articles of yours.
    I liked ….
Focus on your Intention and finding a mentor both so important
to do and have. The message in your mind that the goal has
already taken place is very powerful. Finding business Associates
is also powerful – like-minded individuals. Thanks Visiting you from
    PAC Rotator.

Hello Kathryn, I do try to remember to link my articles but it is so easy to forget HUH? Thanks for adding to the conversation here today I do appreciate it! Chery :))

  16. says

    Hi Chery,

Yes, I have some goals, all of the goals that will end up in one big goal. That said, I want to establish small goals before reaching the big goal. :)

Of course, I play my imagination in it. As you said, I train my mental and my mind and get ready when my goal is reached. I even imagine what I would do when my goal is reached. 😆

I agree with you. All of your goals will only be a dream if you do not take the first step to do that. I have taken the first step, and I kept wondering what I would get when my next goal is reached. 😀

    Thanks for sharing this, Chery.
Your article motivated me to do better. 😉

Have a great beginning of this week!

Great tips Chery. No doubt that these tools will get someone on the right track to reaching their potential. I read something recently that effectively said that a positive attitude is not enough to get you where you want to go and I agree. It takes action and dedication as well and you encapsulated that very nicely in this blog post.
