Think about it, we are all creatures of habit, so what kind of habits have you gotten yourself into?

Are they productive in a good way? A way that is going to help you to reach your goals of online success?

Of course we all want to be more productive in our businesses but the key is to first learn what needs to be done.

Good time management skills are needed to help us develop better work habits in order to get the results we are after.

Here is something I heard the other day and thought “Wow” “This really makes sense to me” “Everything Is Hard Before It Is Easy!”

It is possible to develop better work habits and have online success when you first get started but yes it can be very difficult at first, but after time your habits to become more productive will become more automatic and easier as you grow.

When you are developing strong work habits you are actually developing good habits, developing a habit for online success.

One of the most important techniques you can practice if to develop better work habits is to actually visualize yourself over and over again as a highly productive person.

Develop Better Work Habits And Start Getting Things Done

Here is a list of 4 things you can you can do to develop better work habits to help you reach online success.

1. When you hang it up for the day actually take a few minutes and write out what you would like to get accomplished tomorrow.

Now when you start your day you will have a game plan in place. I don’t care what it is you do just make sure to make your to do list.

Whatever it is you plan on doing make a list then when you get started each day you will know exactly what you want to get done, start to develop better work habits starting today. Now when you start each day I want you to go over your list and prioritize these things, if possible, put in times.

2. Clear your desk with everything except exactly what you need to complete today’s to do list to start to develop better work habits. Now when you sit down to your desk, begin to think like a genius, take a systematic and orderly approach to get started and getting that work done.

3. Consistency is the key to help you start to develop better work habits. You want to take action each day on just one task at time. When you complete one move on to the next, always focus on the end result that you want.

When Developing Better Work Habits, Multi Tasking Is Not One Of Them

When I first got started online I thought that multi tasking was the right thing to do.

I thought I could accomplish more if I had multiple tasks going on at the same time, believe me this doesn’t work.

You want to start to develop better work habits right from day one, it doesn’t really matter if you only get one thing done each day, what matters is that you do something each day to help you reach your goal of online success.

4. Take a look at your body language; ask yourself if a highly successful person would look like you do? Work like you do? Sit straight and believe me when you think with better clarity and greater focus you will start develop better work habits and finally achieve online success.

The more you discipline yourself to concentrate on the tasks at hand the better chance you will have a accomplishing them. This is one of the greatest habits you can develop.

I agree with everything you covered especially when you said you need to have good time management skills to develop better work habits and get the results you want. I have my to do list that is broken down by day and by week and it has helped me stay on track and consistent with what I need to get done to move my business forward. If I didn’t do this I would be unfocused and wasting a lot of time. Thanks so much for the great info!

    To do list will help you turn out to be more productive in a day. This will make you contented and happy in the end of the day if you accomplished your daily goals and plan. Marketers and blogger are encouraged to put this into practice, since it helps them to perk up their strength of will.

    I agree that a clean desk will prompt you to do well and make you more focused on working while facing your computer.

    I love the very last number Chery! Personally, working online made me a bit unhealthy. Most of the time my back aches for the reason that I didn’t sit properly. I always fail to remember whenever I focus working.

    All in all it is awesome and a great reminder!

      Good Morning Metz, I love how you have noticed that working online has made you a bit unhealthy, now that you know this change it.. Make a standing desk, I set myself up on my bar when I get a sore back and love it.. I have never been a real good sitter and in this business it is hard not to HUH?

      Also I know it is hard to do but be sure to get up and stretch a few minutes every hour, it you need to set a timer! Yeppers sometimes we need that little reminder.

      An unhealthy body is not good for anything, So take care of YOU first Girl.. I did talk about this in my last post.

    Hey Chery,

    Oh yes, Everything is hard before it is easy! I totally agree with this. I hard to start new habits that’s going to push you to higher levels.

    I do have to say I’m one that’ll write little notes of what I have to do. I use Evernote and it has been a blessing in disguise. I just hate to think about what I have to do just to forget about it later.

    Also being consistent matters a lot. There are times when life throws me off track, but I manage to stay as close to maintaining my routine as much as possible. And I tell you it is paying off quite well!

      Hello Sherman, I do agree my friend, Yikes! If I dont write it down then Forget IT!! Yes I do forget it hehe.. It doesn’t get done because I can’t remember what the heck I was going to do int he first place hehe.

      Do you think this could have something to do with old age?? LOL Well I still have sticky notes everywhere but I also love my journal to help keep me focused on my income producing activities.

    Hey Chery,

    While it’s on my mind I have to tell you that I cracked up when you said would a highly successful person look like you do? I slump girl and I always have. It’s funny but when I was in elementary school I remember my parents asking me if I would wear a back brace to help straighten my spine. Of course at that age I said no so they never made me wear one. In their minds they just thought they would spend all that money on it and I’d get to school and take it off so I still slump to this day. Okay so that’s not the message here but had to throw that one in. LOL!!!

    It use to make me so mad when I would hear that you have to work smarter and not harder. I never knew what that meant. I’m a very highly organized person but in the beginning when you’re throwing your education in the pile too you end up doing a heck of a lot during the day and most of it is just learning.

    Once you do learn the tasks you need to do in order to help you move forward then you definitely do need to map out your time and stick to it because this should be an enjoyable experience and not one where you’re beat all the time and frustrated.

    All your tips are good and I LOVE your photos you’ve included. Cute cute and cute….

      Hello Adrienne, Wow it is so funny you mentioned this brace, My parents DID buy me this, it was because I was diagnosed with Scoliosis, curvature of the spine! But it was Black, Big, Bulky and UGLEY! And as you have stated I did not wear this thing either. I would of course have it on when I walked out the door but it ended in the bushes before I hit school. HEHE I have learned other ways over the years to take care of my issue such as Yes Sitting up straight and with Yoga practice.

      OK Now for the rest of your Awesome comment LOL I know all to well about getting into that learning mode as I HAD NO Idea as to what Internet Marketing even was when I was introduced to all of this. I actually didnt know better to implement what I learned right away either so it took me longer then it should have to even do anything.

      Yikes looking back makes me feel like an IDIOT! HEHE Oh Well it was all a lesson learned.

    I love what you said “Game plan”. Sure, to be successor we have to own a game plan, a specific game plan for our business. We need to identify exactly what have to be done.

    Actually, I always sit at the coffee shop, and thinking of what I have to do. List it on the small paper stick, and then I tried my best to achieve it.

    Sometime, I postpone those work because I need urgently work.

    Hi Chery,

    I had a mentor a long time ago teach me to make a list at the end of every day what the objectives are for the next day after I review what was accomplished today.

    It worked for a while for me until I discovered that I didn’t know for sure what the most important things were to get done. I would chase the things I thought were urgent and then I started missing the things that were important.

    So, I discovered a tool that would help me rank my priorities for each day and it was a massive life saver for me. I put in my task and then rank from 1-10 the task in two separate columns. 1 being the least and ten the most according to the two criteria:

    1. How easy is it to do – 1 being the hardest and 10 the easiest
    2. Impact on the business – 1 being the least and 10 the most

    Anything over an 18 gets my attention.

    That saved my bacon a few times, lol…

    Hi Chery,

    My first impression of this post was the awesome pictures you have taken of yourself. When it comes to branding you are on point!

    Now for the content.. I do remember the time when I was multi-tasking. I did it for a few weeks then crashed…I mean really crashed. I had no energy, couldn’t get focused. My mind was in a whirlwind and I was not productive at all. It took a few days of getting away from my computer and resting. And while I was “resting” I was getting anxiety attacks because I wasn’t working. I will never get to that place again.

    The good news is…I did learn the hard way to be disciplined with my work. I have more now than ever on my work plate, but have set up a schedule for myself and it became a habit. I won’t go into detail here because it would be a novella…. but I take what is the most important task of the day and do it (eat the frog) Then go about my business with consistency.

    When it comes down to it, make a list of what you want to accomplish, stick to it with consistency and may I add….take time out of YOU. There has to be a part of your daily habits that include doing something for ourselves, otherwise, we will be slumped over the keyboard.

I have always been a multi tasker but it just does NOT work here online… And YES I also agree we all need to take some ME time! I start each day with my Yoga and meditation and really do need to start adding an afternoon walk now that the weather is getting nicer..

    Without making a to-do list is not possible to get all work done at proper time especially for a blogger since s/he is busy sometimes in commenting, responding to comments, and connecting with social media with his audience.

    And the day is finished in the end and then one question is into all of us mind what I have done today even when I am working all day.

    All four tips are really useful to make more productive while working.

    This was a great post and you are right, consistency is the biggest key to developing better work habits. Consistency is also the hardest though, but once you build enough momentum after constantly improving your working habits by following the steps you have given here, you can build those things into habit. I think the first few weeks are definitely the hardest when trying to make something a habit because you have to continuously make an intentional conscience effort, until that effort become unconscious. You did a good job, thanks for sharing!

      Hello Laurence, Yeppers my friend Consistency is key, but I believe it takes about a month of doing something consistently before it becomes a habit.

      I think this is why 30 day challenges and blitz’s work so well. Wouldn’t you agree?

    Wow! Your blog is looking so nice and wonderful – love the little changes made :)

    Coming to the post, you are right about all that you mentioned. Developing any habit takes time, and unless you follow a discipline and routine, it doesn’t really happen on it’s own. I’ve written a few articles on habit, so that comes from my little research and experience online.

    Multi-tasking…lol…don’t we all love that! I guess offline we do a lot of it, at least Moms do, as we are trying to do up several tasks altogether with the little time we have in hand, making the best of it. But when we are online, and working, multitasking can reduce our focus and productivity, both, isn’t it? It’s certainly better to take one step at a time and get your work done – that’s the only way it works for me. Divide your day according to your set work hours, and move ahead!

    Doing two or three things at a time may hurt your productivity level and your efficiency as you may lose focus on what you are doing. And there is a bigger possibility that you will end up drained with nothing done.

    I also would personally recommend doing things at a time. Prioritize the things that you need to be done. Do the most important first and when you are done with it and you are satisfied with the end result, then that’s the time you start working with the next task.

    Isn’t that the truth! Yea, any time you have a solid, practical day to day game plan,
    that’s both totally realistic, based on whatever your current set of skills
    and desires are.

    Being prone to wander off track, lists and reminders are a must for me. For important tasks I also have a reminder/alarm program called Active Desktop Calendar which I find indispensable. Keeping my desk tidy is not my best point but I’m completely oblivious to it when the screen is on. That’s why I need my lists and reminders popping up on the computer.

    Multi-tasking is fine if what you’re doing doesn’t take much thought but otherwise you need to focus to be productive and efficient.

    You offer some great tips here. My desk is pretty clear except for a few lists or some writing that I plan to include in an upcoming product – but it keeps getting delayed and the paper is still sitting there.

    When I finish for the day I usually do make sure to list the 2 or 3 top priorities that I must get done the following day – so I don’t forget and so that I am reminded immediately when I get to my desk.

    I do finish a few tasks each day but I must admit I am still often multi-tasking. I check my Facebook groups and comment there, I comment on blogs, check my emails, etc., before and often after completing certain tasks. There really are lots of different details to attend to. It is still a bit challenging to set aside the time needed to complete the small, not so glamorous tasks such as adding a few more autoresponder messages to my lists or creating an agreement for some interviews.

      Hello Dr Erica, I do know it is a terrible habit for me as well not to head on over to FaceBook to check on things as well as to get into my e-mails to see if I made any sales, but I do try to stay on course. Meaning stick to my schedule. I do find that my day is a whole lot more productive when I do..

    Visualization is a really important concept that I’m starting to believe more and more in. In everything. Good tips on how we should consider ourselves and how we should visualize a successful person.

    The desk tip is also great – I used to have a pile of rubbish (well, paperwork, books etc) on my desk, now it’s my Mac and the keyboard and mouse, along with my to do list.

    helps keep me super focussed – clear desk, focussed mind!

    I’ve been an exception to a lot of things as I’ve multi-tasked for years. I think taking it at a pace that suits you best is important. If you can do a high impact work schedule… do it, but don’t be afraid to take a vacation every so often.

      Hello Nile, I have also been a multi tasker my whole life but once I got online I found this almost impossible for me to get anything done but doing this..

      I just get scatter brainied and nothing gets done.. I need to stick with a game plan so unlike what I was used to..

    I actually wrote them on the back of my planner sheets.
    One top sheet with the weekly calendar on it and one lined page for each day.
    The only other thing I wrote down. Use the TIMER! It really helps you focus your mind
    on the task you are working on.
